Washing Machines on Finance

The washing machine is probably one of the most well used pieces of equipment in your home. It's also something that we all take for granted. However, when the washing machine breaks your washing will quickly start to pile up.

Replacing a washing machine is expensive and could put extra strain on your budget. By buying from a catalogue store you can get a good deal and possibly even spread out the cost using a pay monthly or pay weekly payment plan. Buy now pay later on washing machines is also available to customers although a successful credit status check will be necessary.

Currys is perhaps the most popular retailer on the high street for washing machines and other white goods. When buying from Currys online or in store you have several options for credit.

You can either take out a buy now pay later plan, or a simply 10 plan where the cost of the washing machine is spread over 10 equal monthly payments. When taking out credit from Currys you will need to pay a 10% deposit. Prices are normally fairly good, and they will often price match other local retailers.

AO.com are a very large online retailer specialising in white appliances for homes. They have lots of washing machines available, many of which are actually in stock and ready for next day delivery. The prices at AO.com are very competitive, and often cheaper than high street stores.

As well as being able to pay upfront for a new washing machine from AO, you could buy on finance. AO.com offer a very good finance deal which is very flexible, if you are spending over £249 then you could spread the cost over 6 months for just an extra £29. You could also spread the cost of a washing machine over a longer period if you pay a small interest charge.

Argos have lots of washing machines available to order online. These aren't normally stocked in store though because they are far too bulky for most people to be able to collect. If you order online then they are normally delivered very quickly.

When buying from Argos you can apply for an Argos card which can give you more time to pay. Please note that those customers with no credit history or bad credit are less likely to get accepted for an Argos card when compared to a good credit customer.

Once approved for an Argos card, if you are spending over £150 then you will qualify for the 6 month buy now pay later plan. This does not require any deposit, and you don't need to make any payments for a period of 6 months after purchase.

You will however need to make sure you pay the balance off in full by the end of the 6 months to avoid any interest being charged.

When buying a washing machine on finance, look at the total cost of the finance rather than just comparing the cash price. Some stores have very low prices, but charge high interest rates. The stores we've mentioned above are all very reasonable and will normally have great deals.

If you've already been rejected for credit it's normally best to wait awhile before you re-apply elsewhere.
